The following map shows the area of origin of the family (red circle).

A more detailed overview is available on the following map.

The assumption that the origin of the family von der Lippe lies in Prussia (as stated in several publications) is not fully correct. The area of Ostwestfalen-Lippe has become part of Prussia in the beginning of the 19th. century. Prussian troops entered the Fürstbistum (diocese sovereing?) Paderborn at August 3rd, 1802. As the origins of the family von der Lippe are older than the prussian confederation and the origin of the family does not lie in the founding area of Prussia, this statement is less correct.

The origin of the von der Lippe of Oldenburg is about 200 km in the north.
